Winter Storm Damages Trees
Recent heavy snows have caused extensive damage to many trees in Dane County. Most affected were arborvitae, ash, and locust. Although the damage was mostly limited to individual limbs, some arborvitaes were damaged enough to warrant complete removal.
Does your tree have damaged limbs? H&H can take care of storm damaged limbs and trees that:
- present a safety hazard to people and property.
- must be removed properly to allow for healthy healing and wound closure.
- can cause even more damage to the tree by tearing more cambial tissue.
What can H&H do right now? A certified arborist will evaluate your damaged tree, give recommendations, and provide an estimate for any needed work. To contact Bill, Click Here.
What can be done to prevent future failures and breakages?
Even the healthiest of trees can fail in a given storm, but most storm damage can be prevented with a good pruning schedule. A certified arborist can identify weak limbs that should be removed or directional pruned to prevent failures. In addition to weak limb removal, certified arborists will remove dead limbs, thin healthy canopies where necessary, and perform the proper pruning to create space for surrounding plants and structures such as houses and shrubs.
