Services
All of the work we perform is done with the lowest possible impact on your yard.
Some of the techniques to minimize impact include:
- Climbing trees using a rope and saddle
- Laying plywood to prevent vehicle ruts when it is necessary to drive on your grass
- Rigging heavy pieces of wood down with ropes instead of dropping them
- Using lightweight equipment to assist in our operations
Pruning: Pruning is important to a tree's health, appearance, and function. Typically, a standard pruning job will remove any unhealthy growth, dead or dangerous branches. We can also correct some structural problems. This enhances the appearance of the tree while prolonging its life and creating a safer space around it for you to enjoy.
Removal: Removing a tree is sometimes necessary for a variety of reasons including:
- Failing or failed health of the tree
- Safety concerns (low hanging branches or branches growing too close to other buildings on the property)
- New construction
- Remodeling and/or landscape design
- Prevention of the spread of disease
We employ removal practices approved by ANSI and practice low-impact work to ensure that the well-being of your property is maintained while the tree is safely removed.
At H&H the ISA Certified Arborists on staff specialize in technical removals. We use great care to make sure the tree gets to the ground safely and efficiently.
Stump Grinding: After a tree has been removed, a stump grinding machine can be used to grind the remaining stump and its surface roots. After grinding, no visual evidence of the tree remains except for a hole that can then be filled with topsoil for grass plantings or other landscaping.
Insect and Disease Prevention: There are a variety of effective techniques to choose from in preventing and treating disease and insect related problems. For more information on insects and disease, please visit Common Diseases [link].
Fertilization: In tree care, fertilization is rarely done unless there is a known nutrient deficiency in the soil. If a deficiency is suspected, we can perform a soil test to determine if that is the case before providing fertilization treatments.
Cabling: Support cables provide supplemental support to tree limbs. They are used to provide stability during harsh weather conditions. Cables are also used to help support weakly attached limbs. We are now using a non-invasive cabling system that does not require drilling holes into limbs that may already be stressed. For information on this system visit Cobra Cable .
Consulting: H&H offers professional consultations to help you understand more about your trees and how to care for them. Below are just a few of the topics we are happy to consult on:
- Evaluating a tree's health
- Analyzing the hazard potential of a tree in your landscape
- The selection of new trees and shrubs to plant and where to plant them
- How to take care of your landscape
- Tree, disease, and insect identification
Pre-construction consultation: Building on a wooded lot? Having an addition put on? Avoid future costs by having us come out to your building site before construction begins. We can help protect the trees you want and remove the trees you don’t! You can alleviate the need for expensive, technical tree removals after your home has been built with a simple walk around with one of our consultants during your planning process
Planting: Before planting takes place, we can help provide you with the information you need on the size, shape and growth rate of a tree to help you select a tree that meets your needs and expectations. We then will install the tree utilizing proper planting techniques to reduce transplant shock, increase growth rates, and help to ensure the longevity of your tree.
